Serbia's government has submitted a budget execution report for the first half of 2026. The report details expenditures on various state projects.

The Serbian government has reported expenditures of 13.9 billion dinars for the Belgrade metro and 1.5 billion dinars for a new bridge over the Sava River in the first half of 2026. The report was submitted to parliament, covering the period from January 1 to June 30.

Project Expenditures

The report shows that 13.9 billion dinars were spent on the Belgrade metro, accounting for 53.6% of the planned budget for 2026. For the new bridge over the Sava River, 1.54 billion dinars were spent, which is 31.9% of the planned budget. Additionally, 1.23 billion dinars were transferred to the City of Belgrade for the metro project, and 826.5 million dinars were spent on buildings and construction objects.

Energy Crisis

The current energy crisis has highlighted the need for reversible hydroelectric power plants, such as Bistrica and Đerdap 3. The Minister of Energy has stated that the rehabilitation of the Bajina Bašta hydroelectric power plant is crucial, as it allows for the 'pumping of water during periods of low prices and the use of produced energy during peak hours.'

Bistrica Hydroelectric Power Plant

The construction of the Bistrica hydroelectric power plant is planned, with a projected value of 962.5 million euros. The plant is expected to have four aggregates with an installed capacity of 661 MW and an annual production of 1,600 GWh. The project is scheduled to be completed by 2032, but this depends on the start of construction works.
