The channel suggested the officer may have died in an August 1 explosion at the Balzi Rossi restaurant, an event that reportedly targeted Russian Aerospace Forces Commander-in-Chief Alexander Chayko.

Funeral and Security Measures

The funeral was conducted under heavy security, with Federal Protective Service and Russian National Guard officers stationed at the cemetery entrance to inspect vehicles and screen visitors. Eyewitnesses described the deceased as a relatively young man who had served in the Ground Forces. The burial featured a Russian Ground Forces flag at the gravesite and an honor guard carrying an Aerospace Forces flag.

The Balzi Rossi Explosion

The August 1 explosion at the Balzi Rossi restaurant was caused by a homemade device delivered by an unidentified woman believed to be a courier. The blast resulted in five deaths and 19 injuries. While no group has claimed responsibility, the Russian Foreign Ministry has blamed Ukraine. Reports indicate that Alexander Chayko was celebrating his birthday at the restaurant during the attack. While the victims' names have not been officially released, records suggest Chayko’s son-in-law, Daniil Peredriy, was among the dead and his daughter, Maria, was injured.
