Defending champion Tadej Pogacar secured a victory on stage 19 of the Tour de France at Alpe d'Huez, placing him on the verge of his fifth career title. The UAE Team Emirates rider overcame a breakaway group on the final climb, setting a record time of 35 minutes and 27 seconds. Pogacar now holds a lead of seven minutes and 11 seconds over his closest competitor, Remco Evenepoel.

Stage 19 Performance and Records

Pogacar’s performance on the final climb surpassed the previous record set by Marco Pantani in 1997. During the ascent, he was assisted by his teammate Adam Yates, who provided pacing support after recovering from an illness that had caused him to lose significant time during stage 16. Pogacar finished six seconds ahead of Lenny Martinez, while Richard Carapaz finished in third place, three seconds behind Martinez.

With the win, Pogacar aims to join Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault, and Miguel Indurain as a five-time Tour de France winner.
