Actor Ryan Gosling has been cast as the lead in a new Ghost Rider film, which is scheduled for release in 2028.

Marvel Studios announced at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday that Ryan Gosling will star as the titular character in a new Ghost Rider film. The project, which is set for a 2028 release, will be the third film centered on the motorcycle-riding anti-hero. Gosling appeared on stage during the event to confirm his involvement, noting that he has wanted to play the character for a long time.

Production and Creative Team

The film will be directed by Shawn Levy, who previously directed the MCU's Deadpool & Wolverine. Gosling and Levy are currently collaborating on Star Wars: Starfighter, which is slated for release next year. Levy stated that he and Gosling spent time on set discussing ideas for the Ghost Rider project before committing to the film.

Character Background

Ghost Rider is the alter ego of motorcycle stuntman Johnny Blaze. The character gains superpowers after making a deal with the villain Mephisto to save his surrogate father, resulting in him becoming bound to the Spirit of Vengeance known as Zarathos.
