Prime Video and HBO showcased upcoming series including Blade Runner 2099, The Rings of Power Season 3, and Lanterns at San Diego Comic-Con.

Prime Video and HBO presented new footage and details for several upcoming television projects at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday. The reveals included the first teaser for the ten-episode series Blade Runner 2099, a teaser for the third season of The Rings of Power, and a new trailer for the DC Universe series Lanterns.

Blade Runner 2099 Details

Set 50 years after the events of Blade Runner 2049, the series depicts a Los Angeles where humanity is no longer the dominant force. The story follows a fugitive named Cora who becomes a Blade Runner and partners with Olwen, a Replicant near the end of her life. Michelle Yeoh stars as Olwen, with Hunter Schafer playing Cora. Showrunner Silka Luisa stated the series explores a world where humanity is no longer relevant.

The Rings of Power Season 3

The third season of The Rings of Power will feature the forging of the One Ring by Sauron, played by Charlie Vickers. The plot follows Middle-earth at war five years after the fall of Eregion, with Sauron’s armies conquering much of the world. New cast members include Jamie Campbell Bower as Celeborn and Simon Pegg as the voice of the Balrog.

Lanterns and Spaceballs: The New One

HBO’s Lanterns, premiering August 18, 2026, follows John Stewart, played by Aaron Pierre, and Hal Jordan, played by Kyle Chandler, as they investigate a murder. The series will feature two storylines set in 2016 and 2026. Additionally, Amazon MGM Studios announced Spaceballs: The New One, a sequel to the 1987 film, which is scheduled for theatrical release on April 23, 2027. The project features returning cast members including Mel Brooks, Rick Moranis, and Bill Pullman.
