Norris outperformed Mercedes' George Russell and championship leader Kimi Antonelli at the Zandvoort circuit, marking his second consecutive pole position following his performance in Hungary.

Norris beat Russell by 0.102 seconds to take the top spot, while Antonelli qualified third, trailing Russell by 0.031 seconds. McLaren's Oscar Piastri finished fourth, just 0.009 seconds behind Antonelli. Norris noted that while the McLaren car remains strong in fast corners, it continues to struggle in slow-speed sections. He attributed his qualifying success to the benefits of fresh tires and low fuel, which helped mask the car's handling issues that were apparent earlier in the day.

Earlier on Saturday, George Russell won the Dutch Grand Prix Sprint race, with Norris finishing third and Antonelli fourth. Following the sprint, Norris had expressed concerns about his car's pace, but he described his qualifying lap as a strong effort. Antonelli, who leads the championship standings with 224 points, attributed his failure to secure pole to a mistake at Turn 1 on his final lap. Russell, currently third in the standings with 168 points, acknowledged the competitiveness of the session and congratulated Norris on his performance.
