The collection features individually cut and sewn bands of fabric, as well as labor-intensive garments such as a strapless ruched dress with drawstrings.
Collection Details
The collection features a range of textures, including crinkled and crushed fabrics, and fur-like knits. The bold shoulders are integral to the clothes' construction, not add-ons, and are achieved through a knitting technique. The collection also includes tailored options, such as two pantsuits that evoke opposite effects. One suit is made of a papery, semi-transparent, crushed cotton voile, while the other is sharper and more fitted, made of baby alpaca merino.
Design Process
Suberville made use of tassels and worked with her regular collaborators, Madres y Artesanas Tex, on knits. The collection features a pattern called 'miel' because of its honeycomb shapes, and includes two creatures: Heirlome's bees and a snake. The snake was created by artisan Luis Manuel Morales, who associated the reptile with fashion because it sheds its skin to take on a new guise. Suberville also layered sheer organza over a skirt featuring the print, symbolizing rebirth and fertility.
