Gabrielle Carrington, a former X Factor finalist, has pleaded not guilty to murder and causing grievous bodily harm following a fatal incident in London.

Gabrielle Carrington, a 29-year-old former X Factor finalist, appeared at the Old Bailey via video link to deny charges of murder and causing grievous bodily harm. Carrington is accused of striking social media influencer Klaudia Zakrzewska and security guard Anoush Chyche with her car outside a Soho nightclub on 19 April. Zakrzewska died from her injuries six days after the incident.

Details of the incident

The court heard that the incident occurred at 04:30 BST on 19 April outside the Inca nightclub on Argyll Street. Prosecutors allege that Carrington arrived in her car and became involved in an altercation that escalated, prompting security intervention. It is claimed that Carrington then mounted the pavement, striking Zakrzewska and Chyche. Zakrzewska was found under the vehicle before she was taken to the hospital, where she later died. Chyche, who is in his 50s, sustained life-changing injuries.

Legal proceedings

Carrington, who was a member of the group Miss Dynamix during the 2013 X Factor live finals, appeared from Bronzefield prison. She was not represented by a barrister during the hearing and was not asked to enter a plea regarding a charge of driving with excess alcohol. Judge Sarah Whitehouse KC scheduled the trial to begin on 5 January at the Old Bailey.
